Salvation experience: Desta was born in a Christian family. Growing up, he was a church-goer, but what he did was "not real worship."  At age 17, he understood what Jesus had done for him and he accepted Christ personally.  From that time on, he wanted to follow God seriously, to serve Him with his whole life and passion. 

Life and ministry experience / Present ministry: Joined Great Commission Ethiopia Ministries (GCEM) after high school, serving as a Jesus Film worker for 2 years and as a Jesus Film team leader for 7 years.  He recently graduated from a 9-month training in order to become a full-time staff member with GCEM.  He is now serving in Hawassa as a student ministry coordinator.

Vision for the future: Has a passion to serve student ministries, working to train students at universities and then send them back to their hometowns as evangelists.  If we reach the students today, tomorrow we'll reach the world.

Prayer requests:

• That his training would not just be training, but would be used to help fulfill the Great Commission
• That he would be used to do something special to serve the Lord in this world. That he would be a good servant of God.
• That God would provide his support (prayer and finances) as a full-time staff member
